Paper Cut Printmaking Workshop: 1st Session

For two Saturdays you are invited to join local artist Sue Sidwell for her Peace Initiative Workshop: “to change hearts and mind by stirring the spirit within”.

During the first session we will meet to discuss and share images that will be used in the design you create to make the paper-cut plate. Examples of inspiration will vary widely. From photos, drawings, paintings and thoughts of justice, peace, community, diversity, non-violence and care for the earth. Ideas can be simple to complex. We will then work on translating our images to a cut paper format. As a group we will go over layout, design and cutting techniques. We will practice to get comfortable with the medium. At this point you will have two weeks to work on your personal design at home, bringing your work to the second session for finishing touches, readying to print our plates.

During the second session we will finalize the plates and arrange them to be printed in a combined format. Our large ‘peace poster’ will be printed on Rives Etching paper. The end result will be exhibited in the library. Each artist will sign their own art and will retain their plates after group printing.

Please call the library at 925-3177 to sign up.

Questions?: call Sue Sidwell/Printmaker at 925-1006.
