Services
Library Cards
Library cards are provided free to all our patrons.
Books
Our book collection includes over 17,000 volumes. Books are loaned for a period of 3 weeks. Books can be renewed for an additional 3 weeks as long as there are no reserves on the material. Books not in our collection can be requested through the interlibrary Loan system, free of charge to the patron. In addition to our own Large Print collection we receive a monthly selection of new fiction and non-fiction Large Print books from the Maine State Library.
Books on Tape/CD
We have more then 450 books on tape and CD. They can be borrowed for three weeks at a time and renewed if not requested by another patron.
Videos and DVD’s
Our video and DVD collection holds approximately 900 items, almost 100% of them donated by our patrons. They can be taken out for one week at a time.
Internet and Wireless Connectivity
The library has 4 computers available to the public. All are connected to the Internet via a T1 connection. In addition we have wireless connectivity available 24 hours a day. If you own a laptop but not a wireless interface card we can provide one for use in the building. Molly Ockett Middle School students are also able to use our wireless service with their school laptops.
Fax Machine
Our fax machine is available to the public. Our fax number is 207-925-3177, followed by entering *51. Costs are $1 per page to send (in US), and 25 cents per page to receive.
Copy Machine
Costs for copies are 15 cents per copy.
Programs
The Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library offers many programs and classes free of charge to the public. Our newsletter has a description of ongoing programs and events.
