The Page Turners: The Bluest Eye

Page Turners, the Monday afternoon book discussion group, is reading classics old and new this fall. This month we will be discussing “The Bluest Eye” (1970), the riveting (and short) first novel of the American Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison, who died this past summer. Copies of the book may be requested through interlibrary loan.

We then turn to a Dickens novel, “Dombey and Son” (1848), which is very much also about Dombey and daughter. Since this novel is typical of Dickens in being very, very long, we’ll be discussing it over two sessions, reading through chapter 32 for November 4 and completing the novel for our December 9 gathering.

The Page Turners is welcome to everyone, and we select books by consensus! If you’d like to join the group’s email list to receive notifications of meetings and questions to consider in advance, please contact Sue at lanser@brandeis.edu.
