The Page Turners: Sula

Page Turners, the Monday afternoon book group hosted by CHML, continues its discovery of classics old and new.

The January 13th title will be Toni Morrison’s Sula (1973). Toni Morrison’s second novel tells the story of Nel Wright and Sula Peace, two girls who grow up in a small town in Ohio, Nel becoming a pillar of the black community and Sula a pariah. Join the page Turners for a discussion of this classic work by Morrison, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1993.

Upcoming titles:

February: Frederick Douglass, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass (1845)

March: Harriet Jacobs, Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl (1861)

April: Octavia Butler, Kindred (1979)

May: Angie Thomas, The Hate U Give (2017)

June:  Jane Austen, Emma (1815)

The Page Turners is welcome to everyone, and we select books by consensus! If you’d like to join the group’s email list to receive notifications of meetings and questions to consider in advance, please contact discussion leader Sue Lanser: lanser@brandeis.edu.
