A Winter Evening with Lois Lowry
The Friends of Hobbs Library are delighted to offer a Winter Evening with Lois Lowry on January 27, 2022 at 7:00 pm via Zoom. Tickets (which also grant membership to the Friends for 2022) are $25 for adults and $5 for students and will be available for purchase as of December 1st on our website, https://friendsofhobbslibrary.org/ Please support the library and spend a lovely evening with Ms. Lowry.
Ms. Lowry has written more than 40 books for children and young adults, ranging from a historical novel about the Holocaust (Number the Stars) to a rollicking series about a suburban preteen and her family (the Anastasia Krupnik books) to a fictionalized account of her sister's passing (A Summer to Die). Many have been wildly popular, but The Giver has been Lowry's greatest success. It's sold more than 12 million copies and has been adapted into a play, a musical and an opera. Tickets are available at the library, from any board member, or you may mail in a check with your name and phone number and we will add your ticket to the pot. MASKS REQUIRED IN THE LIBRARY
As of August 31, 2021, Oxford County, Maine is reporting HIGH transmission of COVID-19. Current U.S. CDC guidelines recommend both vaccinated and unvaccinated people wear face coverings when indoors in a public space. We have followed CDC guidelines through the pandemic and continue to do so now.
While vaccines remain effective against severe disease, the Delta+ variants may be transmitted by vaccinated people acting as carriers, even if they do not feel sick or have fever. COVID-19 is regularly transmitted by people without symptoms of disease. CDC recommends if you have been exposed to COVID-19, even if vaccinated, to have a test 3-5 days after exposure and mask in public for a full 14 days after exposure. If you test positive after visiting the library, please report this to us, so we can alert staff and patrons about potential transmission.
Thank you for caring enough for yourself and your neighbors to protect each other. We’re in this together.
