All patrons and friends of the Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library are welcome to join Page Turners, the Library’s book discussion group. Although we usually meet on Mondays, the November meeting will take place on a Friday and only on Zoom In November we will be discussing Daniel Mason’s acclaimed 2023 novel North Woods an innovative and complex story set in one house over three centuries. The fourth novel by an author who is also a psychiatrist and a Stanford professor, North Woods has received wide acclaim for its historical sweep, its innovative form, and its riveting tale-telling.
Our December 9 meeting will take us back to Mark Twain’s classic novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884). And on January 13, we will read James, Percival Everett’s new retelling of Huck from the perspective of Jim, the enslaved runaway whom Huck befriends.
Page Turners maintains a discussion list through which members receive background information and preliminary discussion questions for each book selection. Please contact Sue Lanser (925-6244 or lanser@brandeis.edu) if you would like to learn more about the group or wish to join our mailing list.
