Ethiopia: Land of Wolves and Cliff Churches

  • Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library 227 Main Street Lovell, ME 04051 United States (map)

Speaker: Moira Yip

Ethiopia has remarkable wildlife found nowhere else in the world, and there are only about 400 wolves left. The Orthodox cliff churches, carved out of solid rock, go back to the 7th century and are still in use today, accessible only by climbing up hand over hand. They are decorated with astonishing painted murals.

BIO: Professor Moira Yip, a part-time resident of Lovell, has visited Ethiopia twice, once with a charity that restores murals and bibles in the cliff churches, and once with a specialized nature guide.

This event will be in-person at the Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library (Community Room) and, simultaneously, on Zoom. If you plan to attend in person, masks will be required if you are not fully vaccinated and seating will be on a first-come basis and may be limited.
