Scott Ruescher has been spending time in Oxford County since the 1980s, when he married into a family with a summer house in Stoneham. He has been writing poems about the power of place for many years—some set in his native Central Ohio and his adopted Eastern Massachusetts, others in Appalachia, the Deep South, England, and various parts of Latin America. His 2017 book, Waiting for the Light to Change, made scant mention of Northern New England, but his new one, Above the Fold, includes at least one long poem set in Oxford County. His new poem about the Western Maine legacy of painter Marsden Hartley can be found in The Lantern, the online magazine of the Colby Museum of Art.
