The Page Turners: The House of Mirth

The House of Mirth (1905), by Edith Wharton, is considered a novel of manners by some, but it is far more than that. The novel follows Lily Bart’s descent within New York’s high society at the turn of the last century, where she goes from a life of privilege to a lonely and marginalized existence. Copies of the book may be requested through interlibrary loan.

The October title is The Bluest Eye, by Toni Morrison. For November and December, Daniel Deronda, by Charles Dickens will be discussed (it’s a long one!)

The Page Turners welcomes all members of the greater Lovell community. If you’d like to join the group’s email list, please contact Sue at lanser@brandeis.edu.
